Rydian Academy is where people of all ages can go to figure out their magic, but it does act as a normal school on top of its magical focus. This means that even though it's rare, those without Arcana are able to enroll. Most people just don't for their own reasons.

Rydian Academy is a massive school located in Ethaswen, Lotheria. It's heavily protected by the city's security system, so rarely do problems surface beyond the students that live and study there. While Rydian is well-known, it's not the most beautiful place environmentally, which is contrast to the city it's in. This is because it technically is housed in another dimension, one that is powered by thirty different magical artifacts. Ten of them are held in Ethaswen, while the rest are in the school's separate dimension.

To get beyond the schools enrollment buildings (explained later), you must have a student or faculty ID, which is really an arcane mark on the back of your dominant hand. The mark is in the shape of a capital R. If you do not have one, you need to sign up for a visitors pass. And to get a visitors pass, you must be a potential student, potential employee, or the parent or family of either. Visitors passes are black and vanish the moment you leave through the Rydian Gates. While you're within school grounds, you're tracked via the mark. Student ID marks are white. Faculty ID marks are colored red and are also underlined. All marks are given with an item called an Arcane Stamp.


The picture above depicts what Rydian Academy looks like. The entire thing is held in another dimension. Leaving school grounds is not possible through anything more than the Rydian Gates and they're all held in one area. The small group of small buildings attached to the bridges are the enrollment buildings. These buildings are where people are tested for their prowess as Arcanists, interviewed for the school, and where paperwork is signed for the sake of enrollment. It is also where deliveries to and from the school are made. However, records are not kept here.

The set of four buildings on the far left of the picture are apartment buildings that house the teachers and staff of Rydian Academy. The apartments are all very nice and well-equipped for any person's needs. Families can live here as well. The complex is large enough, so it has one hundred apartments available, reaching up to three stories high.

The large building to the right of the staff's apartment complex is a massive storage unit that houses not only equipment and supplies for students, but building and and reconstruction materials for when things inevitably go wrong... and they will go wrong.

There is one area for students to reside. The dormitory is the larger building about seven stories tall with the flat roof. While most students stay in Ethaswen for the sake of cheapness, the dorms are always open to those who need them. They are medium sized rooms with a decent sized bathroom, full bed, and a mini-kitchen. To live in one of the dorms with a roommate, it costs 600 coin. To live in one alone, it costs 850 coin.



Faculty are considered teachers, administrators, counselors, secretaries, security guards, custodians, and any other form of employment through the school. As said before, all faculty are given an arcane mark through a magical device called an "Arcane Stamp." The mark they're given is a red R on the back of their dominant hand. This is done in order to identify them. Faculty are paid between 14 and 45 coin an hour. Payment may differ from person to person. If you apply for a certain position, your character will be given a payment. It is possible for your payment to be a little different than someone else in the same position. This is done for RP/plot value only so ignore it if you want to.

The definition of a student is obvious. As said before, all students will be given a white colored "R" to represent their enrollment in Rydian Academy. This colored R prevents them from entering faculty only or "restricted" areas. Permission can be temporarily granted to some areas through another temporary mark, but this isn't common as it usually means something out of the ordinary has occurred. Students pay a tuition fee of 300 coin per class. Half-time is 4 classes or less per year. Full-time is 5-8 classes per year. Financial aid for the year can be applied for. While for some it may cover everything, for others it may only cover a portion of tuition costs. "Half-time" means less financial aid. Scholarships are also available for students who excel, however, scholarship/grant money is limited. This is done for RP/plot value only so ignore it if you want to.
